Former Boy Meets World co-stars Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage reunited to film the pilot for Girl Meets World after a 13-year break from acting together.
Fishel described her reunion with Savage as “even better than I could've possibly imagine it was going to be." Fishel, who plays Topanga Lawrence Matthews in the new show, said that despite over a decade apart, she and Savage were able to pick up exactly where they left off.
"The minute we walked into rehearsal, Ben was Cory[Matthews] and I was Topanga,” Fishel said, according to Access Hollywood, “We were together and it was like no time had passed."
Though Fishel is engaged to longtime beau Tim Belusko, she says the bond she shares with Savage is much like that of a married couple. "I always tell people -- it seems a little weird -- but it does feel like [Ben] is my husband. He will always be my first husband."
Fishel and Savage’s real life bond will play out on screen in Girl Meets World , playing Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence all-grown up, and raising their 13-year-old daughter. The actress recently showed her grown-up side, appearing on the cover of Maxim magazine.
Savage, who spoke about his new show at the Austin Television Festival this past week, shared his feelings about his TV wife’s sexy shoot.
"I was actually at dinner with Danielle when they told her she was going to be on the cover, that's an exclusive," Savage told Too Fab . "I thought she looked beautiful, she's always been beautiful."
