One Direction singer Harry Styles, who briefly dated Taylor Swift last winter, has said that he does not think it's strange for her to write songs about their past history together.
The couple had somewhat of a bitter break-up, with reports that the twosome split because of fighting and trust issues. Styles told Us Weekly, "It would be hypocritical for me to say she couldn't do it because everybody writes songs based on personal experience."
He added, "I can't say I'd have dated someone less famous to avoid it. At least she's a great songwriter!"
The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer famously hinted she wrote the song about the One Direction heartthrob. She is notorious for having written similar songs in the past. Other famous exes include John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, and Taylor Lautner.
Swift has not been shy about admitting to the press she writes about her exes, even saying on her Twitter account after her break-up with Styles, "Back in the studio. Uh oh..."
Shortly afterwards, the New York Post reported that Harry was not sore about his ex performing at the Grammys with a faux British accent singing "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."
"She's always good on the stage. She's been doing it a long time. She knows what she's doing on stage. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good," he said.
