The full cast for the remake of the Lorraine Hansberry project A Raisin in the Sun is completed and is set to appear on Broadway very soon.
The play is being headlined by Oscar award winning actor Denzel Washington and actress Diahann Carroll. A date of September 21 is set for tickets to go on sale. Previews will begin to happen on March 8 and the actors will hit the stage on April 3, 2014 for the grand opening, according to Deadline.
Washington will portray Walter Lee Younger; Carroll will portray Lena. Some of the cast members will include Sophie Okenedo, Anika Noni Rose, and Stephen Tyrone Williams. The play will go on for 14 weeks; Scott Rudin will be the producer, according to Indiewire.
Kenny Leon will be directing the upcoming play. The play is about a mother (Carroll) having hope of moving her family to a safer neighborhood due to having the money of her dead husband come through. Meanwhile, Walter Lee (Washington) has other plans for the money, which creates trouble within the family, according to Deadline.
