Britney Spears is known for getting racy at previous MTV Video Music Awards events, such as her famous striptease and kissing Madonna on stage during a performance with Christina Aguilera.
While announcing her Las Vegas residency on Tuesday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, she defended Miley Cyrus’ controversial performance with Robin Thicke.
"I think anytime you do a performance that is that memorable, you're going to have criticism," Spears said, E! Online reports. "I think she's doing her thing. She's being herself, so I give props to her."
Spears and Cyrus, 20, have a song coming up, "SMS (Bangerz),” which will appear on Cyrus’ upcoming album Bangerz. Cyrus has previously opened up about her bond with Spears and how they can relate to each other.
"Everyone goes through a time in their life where they don’t want their picture taken everyday. [Britney] just never had that time where she could say 'I’m going through something right now and need to shut down.' I also don’t have that, so it’s good to have that one person in my life who gets it," she told Huffington Post UK.
