Rumors were swirling over the weekend that Bruno Mars would be taking the stage to perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show in February, and now Mars is confirming it.
No one had confirmed it as of Sunday morning, but Mars took to Twitter around noon to do so.
WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!! #PepsiSBHalftime
— Bruno Mars (@BrunoMars) September 8, 2013
He followed it up with “#Hooligans we did it!”
The “Treasure” singer then retweeted a message from Pepsi, who sponsors the event, “Excited to have you in #PepsiSBHalftime Mr. @BrunoMars. We KNOW you're #FanEnough! The countdown to Feb 2 is on.”
CBS reports Mars will follow-up Beyonce’s performance from last year. Madonna, The Black Eyed Peas with Usher and Slash, The Who and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in 2009 have been the most recent performers.
Mars’ debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans came out in 2010, and his sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox came out in 2012. He counts “Grenade,” "Locked Out of Heaven," “Just the Way You Are" and "If I Was Your Man” as hits.
