The wait is over! Dakota Johnson has officially been cast to play Anastasia Steele in E L James’ hit erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.
“I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey,” she wrote.
Johnson’s credits include The Social Network, Beastly, The Five Year Engagement, Ben & Kate and 21 Jump Street.
The 23-year-old actress is the not the only addition to the cast made on Monday. James also tweeted an hour later that Pacific Rim actor, Charlie Hunnam was cast as Christian Grey opposite Johnson. He also currently appears as Jax on the FX show Sons of Anarchy. Many names had been rumored for the role of Grey, including Armie Hammer and Matt Bomer.
Kelly Marcel is set to pen the script for the erotic film, Sam Taylor-Johnson is set to direct.
50 Shades of Grey is set to hit theaters Aug. 1, 2014.
