Herbert Chavez of Calamba City, in the Philippines, has had 19 surgeries in order to make himself look like his idol, Superman.
Chavez, who is 36 years old, started the surgeries when he was 20. He’s spent the equivalent of nearly $7,000 US dollars on the procedures, which included nose jobs, lip liposuction, pectoral and abdominal implants, skin whitening and jaw realignment, according to Yahoo News.
Chavez says he already has his next surgery planned – he will have metal inserts added to his legs to make him taller.
Chavez explains his lifestyle, “I feel like a superhero whenever I pull on the costume, but my mission is not to save the world but to help in my own small way and bring a smile to the faces of local children, according to the Huffington Post.
Chavez, who works as a clothing designer, has loved Superman since he was five years old. He insists that he hasn’t regretted any of the surgeries, saying he loves the attention from people on the street: “They are all really excited to see a real life Superman in the Philippines.”
