Jennifer Lawrence is set to play one of the lead roles in an adaptation of John Steinbeck's acclaimed book, East of Eden. The Hunger Games star took the film scene by force in 2010 with Winter's Bone then further solidified her glory last year with a best actress win for Silver Linings Playbook. Her schedule is even busier now with such worldwide acclaim.
According to Empire, East of Eden will see Hunger Games director Gary Ross teaming up once again with Lawrence. The story is based on two brothers fighting for their father's attention set in World War I. Lawrence would be slated to play the boys' mother, Cathy Ames.
East of Eden has a lot of to live up to as it as remake of a 1955 classic from director Elia Kazan. According to New York Times, East of Eden will be a two-part adaptation of the book. Any further developments are a ways in the future, as both Lawrence and Ross will be busy completing the Hunger Games series, which will run until 2015.
