Sir Paul McCartney closed down parts of Hollywood Boulevard Monday, performing a free concert for Jimmy Kimmel Live and 10,000 fans who showed up to see the former Beatle perform.
As previously reported, McCartney was set to appear on the show as part of his promotion for his newest album, titled NEW. He did perform the new album’s title track, which has already been released as a single. He also performed “Everybody Out There” and “Save Us,” other NEW songs. However, the rest of his set list stuck with Beatles and solo favorites, notes Entertainment Weekly.
The show started off with “Magical Mystery Tour” and wrapped up with “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude.” Other songs included “Back in the U.S.S.R.,” “Band on the Run” and “Another Day.”
In addition to the performance, McCartney also sat down with Kimmel, who appeared starstruck. “The only other person who got a standing ovation here was Don Rickles,” Kimmel said. “Well, I’d stand for Don,” McCartney replied.
