Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is the latest celebrity to top a Forbes list, this time one focusing on Hip-Hop stars. Diddy beat out Jay Z and Dr. Dre for the top spot. Nicki Minaj was the only female artist included on the list.
The magazine found that Diddy made $50 million from June 2012 to June 2013. Diddy has become one of the biggest entrepreneurs in the music business, with his Bad Boy record label, the Sean Jean clothing line, his Blue Flame agency, his Diageo’s Ciroc vodka deal and his own cable network Revolt.
Jay Z came in second with $43 million, thanks to Magna Carta ... Holy Grail, his tour, Armand de Brignac champagne, Roc Nation and other business deals. He lost the hyphen, but is still raking in millions.
Although Dr. Dre’s number no longer includes his Beats by Dr. Dre seal in 2011, he is still working with Jimmy Iovine on new ventures, including a streaming service. He topped the list last year with $110 million, but only made $40 million in the past 12 months.
Minaj came in fourth with $29 million. The rest of the Top 10 includes Birdman ($21 million); Kanye West ($20 million); Lil Wayne ($16 million); Wiz Khalifa ($14 million); Ludacris ($12 million); and Pitbull ($11 million).
