An escaped convict battles aliens to stay alive on an isolated, burning planet in Riddick. In order to get out, he must alert bounty hunters who are out to kill him. Vin Diesel takes the lead once again in the third installment in the Pitch Black series. The sci-fi adventure is running for one hour and 43 minutes in conventional and IMAX theaters. It’s rated R for violence, language, sex and nudity.
Naomi Watts and Robin Wright play longtime friends in Adore. While spending a summer together with their sons, they explore their passions and question their morals through relationships that are considered taboo. The one hour and 51 minute drama is playing in limited theaters. It’s rated R for sex and language.

The limited-release film tells her story as a young tribal woman who falls in love with the anti-apartheid advocate. She stands by her man, fighting for his beliefs even though it means that she will be persecuted and imprisoned. Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard star in the one hour and 47 minute drama. The film is rated R for violence and language.
A student/teacher relationship gets sexual in A Teacher. Despite the secret almost going public, the young female educator continues to sneak around with the teen. Her obsession causes her life to spiral out of control. The drama unfolds in one hour and 15 minutes. The unrated film is available in limited theaters.
A couple looks to the Vatican for help after they move into a haunted house in Hell Baby. While living in their new home, the pregnant wife gets possessed by the devil and the death toll rises. The one hour and 28 minute comedy is created by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (the men behind Reno 911) and stars Rob Corddry and Leslie Bibb. The limited-release film is rated R for violence, nudity, sex, language and drugs.
A birthday party becomes deadly in Butcher Boys. In the limited-release horror film, cannibals attack and kill people in major cities around the world. The one hour and 26 minute film is rated R for violence, language, sex and nudity.
An unhappily married woman dreams of performing her poetry on stage in New York in Things Never Said. After finding happiness with a new man, she is able to express her feelings in her poetry, bringing a new life to her work. The one hour and 52 minute romantic drama is playing in limited theaters. It’s rated R for violence and sex.
A popular massage therapist suddenly has an aversion to touch in Touchy Feely. This reaction impacts not only her job, but also her relationships. While she is struggling, her brother, who was having trouble with his dental practice, is now getting a crowded waiting room of patients. The limited released drama stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Ellen Page, Allison Janney, Josh Pais, Ron Livingston and Tomo Nakayama. The one hour and 29 minute film is rated R for language, drugs and sex.
A young man learns from the stories of his grandfather in The Ultimate Life. With stress at work, financial troubles and a lost love, Jason Stevens turns to the journals of his grandfather for the hope and inspiration to get his life back in order. Peter Fonda, Logan Bartholomew star in the PG drama. The limited released film plays for one hour and 58 minutes.
The life of the man behind the popular novel The Catcher in the Rye is examined in Salinger. J.D. Salinger purposely went off-the-radar following the release of what many consider to be one of the greatest novels ever written. The limited-release documentary tries to uncover what happened to the man with so much talent and potential. His story is told through never before seen film, photographs and interviews with some of those closest to him. The two hour film is rated PG-13.
Assassins target corporate CEOs in Bounty Killer. Looking to bring order and equality back to society, a group of hit men set out to kill the rich and give back to the poor. The limited-release action film runs for one hour and 32 minutes. It’s rated R for violence, language, sex and nudity.

Many dramas made their way into theaters this week, but next week Robert De Niro stars in what some call a drama, comedy and crime thriller all rolled into one, The Family. Sept. 13 is also the release of the horror sequel Insidious 2.
