Drake has reportedly fired Future from his tour after he criticized the Canadian rapper’s new album Nothing Was the Same.
The rapper got so angry his supporting act would publicly slam the album that he first attempted to fire him, then asked him to take a pay cut. Future refused, and he reportedly has plans to get a lawsuit together to sue Drake for over $1.5 million, which is $40,000 per show.
Page Six notes it all started when Future did an interview with Billboard promoting his own album Honest. At the time, his managers tried to persuade Billboard not to publish it, saying the comments were off the record. The story was altered, but editor Erika Gonzalez tweeted what was said.
Gonzalez wrote, “Not only is future’s #honest album interesting, so are his thoughts on Drake’s #NWTS album,” adding, “’Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do’ — Future.”
Future also told Billboard, "I've been on the songs of all these rappers that put out an album, and my music is still better."
The tour will launch in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Friday and Miguel will still act as Drake’s supporting act.
