One of the songs featured on this week’s Glee tribute to the late Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on the show, has been released.
In a cover of The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young,” Naya Rivera, who plays former Cheerio Santana on the show, honors the late actor. MTV News shared the song ahead of the episode.
A list of songs that will be heard on Tuesday’s episode have already been leaked, but this is the first full song we’ve heard.
We will also hear “Seasons of Love,” from Rent, James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain,” Bruce Springsteen’s “No Surrender” and Bob Dylan’s “To Make You Feel My Love.”
Co-creator Ryan Murphy has talked about the tribute episode previously, saying "The episode is called 'The Quarterback,' and Cory really was that to that group of people and to me particularly. That group of kids particularly went through the limelight and became world famous at a very difficult age, and many of them really struggled with it."
He added, "Cory obviously very much struggled with it, but never on the surface, and I think that's why everybody loved him. He was the most kind, the most generous — never a bad word for anybody."
