Marina Shifrin’s video went viral this week, sending a message to her bosses that she quits her job.
The video shows Shifrin dancing to Kanye West’s “Gone,” and she quits with words that appear on the screen.
“For almost two years I've sacrificed my relationships, time and energy for this job. And my boss only cares about quantity and how many views each video gets. So I figured I'd make ONE video of my own,” appears on the screen. “I QUIT!”
Here’s the video:
Shifrin’s boss has now posted a rebuttal video. In it, he enlists several employees to dance around to West’s “Gone” just as Shifrin did. They also explain with text that they eat at their desks because there are no restaurants around, but their rooftop pool makes up for it. They also indicate at the end of the video that they’re now hiring.
NBC Bay Area notes Shifrin’s video has received over 11 million hits and she appeared on the Queen Latifiah Show Thursday, where she got a surprise of a lifetime.
"I want to be surrounded by cool, creative, interesting people," said Queen Latifah. "Maybe I can hook you up with a gig." Shifrin gladly accepted.
"Sometimes I think you need to forcefully close one door in order for another to open a little easier," she said of her video.
