When Julianne Hough guest-judged on Dancing with the Stars this week, she was called “hypocritical” for her critiques of childhood friend Mark Ballas and his partner Christina Milian.
Hough returned to fill in for one of the judges after five seasons of being on the show and it seems Ballas wasn’t happy with what she had to say.
"There were moments where I felt like choreography-wise, I felt like it was two people dancing side-by-side rather than together," she told the duo when they finished their dance. "So I really want to see [Milian] shine. I've danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you're seen."
However, backstage, Ballas told Us Weekly, “The one comment for me that was a little funny is that I make it all about me... all the critiques were at me, and not at [Milian]. So I thought that was a little hypocritical comment. I think [Hough] was very insightful tonight though and gave great tips on lines and how to express.
He went on to give her a compliment, “We've had a lot of guest judges and I thought out of all of them she was one of the best. So that part, I love. I was the one who kind of got the heat, but you know what, that's OK! It's fine."
Hough and her brother, Derek Hough, moved to London when they were young to train with Ballas’ family. When she came out and stated she was abused physically and mentally at that time many thought she was indicating it had something to do with the Ballas family.
“While I was in London, I was abused, mentally, physically, everything," she told Cosmopolitan in January. "I’m a very forgiving person, and I don’t want to hurt anybody. What’s past is past.”
