The episode opens with Michael commenting on Annie’s choice of an old t-shirt to wear to bed instead of something “hotter.” Eve then comes in to announce to her parents that her new lesbian friend will be coming over the next day. Eve “prides herself on having a diverse crowd,” which Ian later says is her way of trying to make herself feel unique. Michael and Annie are continually interrupted by their children entering their bedroom. Once all of the children have left, an upstairs neighbor’s extremely loud television comes on, prompting Mike to go upstairs and ask them to turn the volume down. When Mike turns around, Annie has fallen asleep.
Mike knocks on the neighbor's door and discovers it is not an old man like he had thought, but an active woman baking cookies. She offers Mike a bite of cookie dough off of her spoon and he, being frazzled, runs downstairs. When Annie asks Mike about the neighbor, Kelly (played by Michael J. Fox’s real life wife Tracy Pollan), the next morning, he calls her “totally forgettable,” but when Kelly shows up at the Henrys’ with cookies, Annie gets jealous. It's made worse when Mike talks about Kelly in his sleep.
When Eve’s friend Reese comes over, Ian begins to flirt with her, even though Eve tells him Reese is a lesbian. Later, Eve, Reese and Eve’s other friends go to Jay Jay’s fun zone arcade. Ian shows up and continues to flirt with Reese. Eve then sees Reese and Ian kissing against an arcade game. When she confronts Reese, Reese says she is not a lesbian and the rumor Eve heard about her kissing another girl was just to get boys' attention.
Meanwhile, Leigh is working on a freelance article for Us Weekly. She is extremely stressed about it and is mad when Annie doesn’t have time to listen to her vent. She takes Graham to the park and some of the mothers think she is a single mom and listen to her vent her problems. She then brings Graham back to the park trying to continue the charade until the mothers begin to annoy Leigh and she takes Graham to meet the rest of the family at Jay Jay's.
To try to prove to Annie that he doesn’t have a crush on Kelly, Mike sets Kelly and Harris up so the two couples can have a double date. Kelly and Harris actually hit it off though, making Mike extremely, visibly jealous. As Mike tries to ruin Kelly and Harris’s date, Annie gets a text that they have to go pick up Graham from Jay Jay's. Annie gets mad at Mike and leaves without him, and Kelly and Harris go upstairs to her apartment.
When Mike gets to Jay Jay's, he gets on the loud speaker and apologizes to Annie for being insecure and jealous when Kelly stopped liking him. The episode ends with a corny line about family and how important their love and support is.
