MTV has become the first network to debut an entire season of a new show on an app, and a week early to boot. The documentary show Wait ‘Til Next Year will be available on iPhone, iPad and Xbox 360 for Xbox Live Gold.
The show is now available on the MTV app, but doesn’t premiere until Nov. 1. It will air on Friday nights and follows the Lincoln Park Railsplitters, who have lost 43 high school football games in a row in the past five years. It’s executive produced by Craig D’Entrone, Amelia D’Entrone and Sean Travis.
According to TheWrap, MTV’s sister channel Vh1 did a similar promotion, releasing their biopic “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story on the MTV app for a week after the show’s premiere.
In the trailer for Wait ‘Till Next Year, the cheerleaders are seen getting heckled for their team’s losing streak – the longest in the history of Michigan, MTV News reports. The show will not only document the football team but also their lives; showing one who struggles with a mom addicted to drugs and a couple’s relationship issues.
