In light of the failure of the House and Senate to come to a decision Monday night to avert a government shutdown, many concerned and outraged citizens have been taking to various social media to voice their opinions.
Many have voiced scathing criticisms of Congress, of how extremely conservative and Tea Party Republicans were more concerned with their attempts to defund Obamacare than with the interests of the American people. Others are outraged that 800,000 hard working federal employees have been furloughed, while the Congress that failed them will continue to receive regular paychecks for doing seemingly nothing.
However, one thing is clear. The American people are not happy with the shutdown, and they feel as if their government is not listening to them. Today asked the people to voice their opinions on Tuesday, launching the hashtag #DearCongress, which has been trending various social networks.
