The anticipation for the film adaptation of E.L. James' best-selling novel Fifty Shades of Grey is in high alert as the search for the irresistible billionaire Christian Grey continues. The search is starting again due to Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam, 33, dropping the role because of his busy TV schedule that would not allow him enough time to prepare for the role of Christian Grey.
A source told People that Hunnam dropped the role because he wanted to avoid being like Robert Pattinson. The source said, "He dropped out of the project because he didn't want to be typecast. He didn't want the Robert Pattinson-esque attention that would come along with taking on this role."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures and Focus Features want British actor and model Jamie Dornan to play the role of Christian Grey. Christian Cooke and True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard are being considered. It is reported that Dornan is the front-runner for the role.
E! Online posted pictures of Dornan when he was a Calvin Klein model, and it will convince you that the rugged and smoldering actor can capture the role of Christian Grey.
Dornan, 31, started off as a model and moved on to play the role of the Huntsman in ABC’s Once Upon A Time from 2011 to 2013. Dornan also plays a serial killer in the BBC Series The Fall.
The Irish star dated Keira Knightly in 2003, but the couple parted ways in 2005. Dornan is off the market and he is expecting his first child with his wife, singer Amelia Warner.
Dakota Johnson, 24, will still be playing the role of Anastasia Steele. The film will be released on August 1, 2014. What do you think? Does Dornan fit the role for the seductive billionaire Christian Grey?
