Ewan McGregor will make his Broadway debut in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing next year.
Artistic director of New York's Roundabout Theatre Company, Todd Haimes, said in a statement, “Ewan is an accomplished film actor whose credits range from independent, art-house films, like Beginners and Trainspotting, to huge studio blockbusters including Star Wars: Episodes 1-3 and Moulin Rouge."
McGregor, 42, will play Henry in the Sam Gold-directed play, who has an affair, The BBC reports. The play will run from Oct. 2 2014 to Jan. 4 2015.
The actor will be seen on-screen in August: Osage County alongside Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts next.
The Mirror notes McGregor was on stage for a different reason on Thursday night, raising money for Unicef to benefit children in Syria. He joined Robbie Williams on stage for a duet.
He tweeted a picture of the two and wrote, “Singing 'Angels' with Robbie Williams last night at@UNICEF_uk #halloweenball #childrenofsyria.”
