Kobe Bryant, who is currently sidelined with an injury, will receive a check from the Lakers for $24,363,044 of his $30,453,805 salary for the season on Friday.
This balloon payment he will be receiving was negotiated as part of his contract. He will receive the remaining $6.1 million throughout the rest of the season, LA Times reports.
Kobe missed the first two games of the season as he is still rehabbing his Achille's tendon, which he tore last season. There is no timetable for his return as of right now.
Bryant is currently the highest paid NBA player by far, according to San Francisco Chronicle. The next highest paid player is Dirk Nowitski at $22.7 million. This means Bryant made more money in one lump sum Friday than any other NBA player will make this year.
