A&E’s immediate response to Phil Robertson’s controversial comments may have been to suspend the family patriarch from Duck Dynasty, but that doesn’t mean that they will stop airing episodes with him in it. In fact, the network has scheduled a super marathon for Wednesday, Christmas Day.
The network plans to air 25 straight episodes of the hugely popular series starting at 3:30 p.m., reports Entertainment Weekly. It will continue through 4 a.m. Thursday morning.
A&E had planned the marathon weeks before the scandal broke and it decided to suspend Robertson. Of course, the network had also filmed many episodes of season five as well. It was reported last week that season five would premiere as previously scheduled on Jan. 15.
Marathons are typical for cable networks on the holidays as well. If you don’t want to sit through a Duck Dynasty marathon, you can gather the family for a Breaking Bad marathon on AMC.
Earlier today, we reported that Twitter had mistakenly blocked a pro-Robertson petition. Cracker Barrel has also tried to remove Duck Dynasty items, but backlash forced the company to reverse its decision.
