Several former Disney stars, including Demi Lovato, Dylan Sprouse and Zendaya Coleman have responded in the wake of the Vulture interview with Joe Jonas where he opened up about his time with Disney.
In the interview, Joe Jonas vented about the way he felt stars were treated by Disney, noting "Being a part of the Disney thing for so long will make you not want to be this perfect little puppet forever," reports The Hollywood Reporter. He then noted that Disney chooses many "spunky" stars.
Lovato and Coleman each had simple replies for the Joe, with Lovato tweeting: "@joejonas love you bother. #family/friendsforever," and Coleman separated herself from him saying, "I admire @joejonas and his honesty...so real and brave...but that's his journey, not mine...don't worry about me."
However, MTV reports, Sprouse was a little less withheld in his response. The former Suite Life actor wrote on his Tumblr that he felt more could have been done by the Jonas Brothers to gain back creative control.
"First, I think it's bulls--- that they were being robbed of choice or creativity. If they wanted too, they could have told Disney 'NO'. Cole and I did this hundreds of times and we ended up all right." He continued, "The only reason they didn't is because, like many of the people on that channel, I think they fell for the allure of fame."
Sprouse noted, "Nowadays artists just assume they have to do what they are told by their proprietors because there is a 'rigid structure to achievement.'"
