Dwyane Wade has admitted to fathering a child when he and his now-fiance Gabrielle Union were on a break. He openly talked about during a press conference on Monday, saying Union is aware of the baby and they’re working through it.
"In our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it … a son that was born healthy. So, I'm moving on,” Wade said ahead of the Miami Heat game.
The 31-year-old NBA star has two other children; Zaire, 11, and Zion, 6, from a previous marriage to Siohvaughn Funches. In addition to his new child, he has custody of his nephew, People reports.
"You know me. I'm involved in my kids' lives. When my kids were living at home with me, or wasn't living at home with me, I tried to do everything I could to see them,” he also said at the press conference, USA Today reports.
He talked about his actress fiancé, Union, 41, saying, “Me and my lady and my family have continued to move forward, and I think that's evident with the ring and the proposal that I gave her. This is something, obviously, private for my family that we will continue to deal with as a family, but we have a blessing to the bloodline, to the Wade bloodline."
Wade and Union announced their engagement right before the holidays, both tweeting a picture of the ring.
“Sooooo this happened... #Yessss,” she wrote.
