Race car driver Michael Schumacher remains in critical health after a skiing accident on Sunday in the French Alps.
According to CNN, the skiing accident happened Sunday morning between Georges Bauduis Piste and La Biche Piste in the French Alpine resort of Meribel. He fell while skiing and struck a rock with his head.
He was surrounded by his wife and family members who are in shock. A French prosecutor has opened an investigation looking into the cause of the accident.
"We cannot predict the future for Michael Schumacher,” said Chief Anesthesiologist Dr. Jen-Francois Payen, reports the Associated Press. He added that they were "working hour by hour" on Schumacher.
Schumacher suffered severe head trauma and was taken to the University Hospital Center of Grenoble. Doctors are keeping him in a coma following brain surgery.
The 44 year-old retired Formula One race car driver has over 91 race wins since he began his career in 1991. He has won seven world titles, and has driven for Ferrari and Mercedes. Like many Formula One drivers, he was known to be fearless.
