The Hunger Games: Catching Fire just surpassed the $400M box office mark internationally. The film is currently being shown in 85 markets and made an estimated $10.5M over the weekend, which helped the film to cross the $400M mark.
Deadline reported that the film did have a soft opening in Japan, only bringing in about $540,000.
The highly anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games has done extremely well at the United States box office bringing in $391,124,000 to date, Screen Crave reported.
In total, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has a global total of $795.2M and it is likely that the Lionsgate film will cross the $800M mark this week.
The film continued to do well at the box office in Mexico, U.K. and France.
The holiday box office in the United States was a close race. The Hobbit sequel came in first place followed by the Disney animated feature Frozen. Catching Fire came in 8th place at the box office.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Donald Sutherland.
