Jason Clarke in talks for John Connor role in 'Terminator'

News surrounding the casting for Sarah Connor for the newest Terminator has yet to become definitive and now rumors surrounding who will be playing the character's son have surfaced as well. Jason Clarke is rumored to be in talks for the role of John Connor, a role previously filled by Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl and Christian Bale.

Clarke has been making a name for himself in Hollywood, including his breakout role in Zero Dark Thirty as well as small roles in The Great Gatsby and White House Down. Clarke has also been cast in next summer’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, according to Deadline, which first reported the news.

According to MTV, the running for the female lead has reportedly come down to Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson. Emilia Clarke is best known for her role as Khalessi in Game of Thrones while Larson is known for her role in the film 21 Jump Street.

Terminator: Genesis will be the fifth film in the series. The saga started in 1984 with James Cameron's sci-fi classic. It is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
