Fox’s 24 reboot has just gained Oscar-nominated actress Judy Davis for a recurring role. The miniseries is scheduled to start in spring 2014.
Davis has been cast as a German arms dealer, which will be a recurring character during the 12-episode series, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The character was described by the network as “fierce,” so it should make for a good part against Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer.
The Australian actress has earned Oscar nominations for A Passage To India (1984) and Husbands and Wives (1992). She won two Golden Globes, including one for 2001’s Life With Judy Garland and won an Emmy in 2007 for The Starter Wife.
As Deadline notes, the cast of 24: Live Another Day also includes familiar faces for 24 fans, including Sutherland, Kim Raver, Mary Lynn Rajskub and William Devane. The series is set in London and takes place four years after the last season of the series. Like the original acclaimed series, the action will take place in real time.
Live Another Day was finally announced in May after years of talk about a 24 movie. It is being produced by Teakwood Lane Productions with 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine Entertainment.
