Kim Kardashian is trying to clear up recent criticism that she only gave 10 percent of the revenue raised from her eBay auction of her wardrobe to victims of the Philippines’ Typhoon Haiyan.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has an estimated net worth of $40 million and she was slammed in the press for not giving more to the International Medical Corps’ relief fund.
In a blog post, she tried to explain herself. “Being in the public eye, there are times I feel like I get criticized for any and everything I do. I’m used to it now. I just choose not to feed into the negativity or become consumed by it,” she wrote. “The problem comes in when I get attacked for giving and trying to help people.”
She went to explain, ”I give 10 percent of all my earnings to charities, not just these eBay auctions,” also writing, “I do it because I want to. I do it because my dad taught me to. I do it because it’s the right thing to do."
Sources told FOX 411 after the backlash that North West’s mom did make a profit off of the eBay auction, with eBay taking just about 9 percent of the funds raised. With the 10 percent going to the charity, that leaves Kardashian with the rest.
