MTV has selected Miley Cyrus, who has been everywhere - both for good and bad - throughout this year, as its best artist of 2013.
MTV explained their reason, as she has been both atop the headlines and music charts for the year, Reuters reports. Her latest album Bangerz did well on the music charts and she has had several memorable performances during music shows, including two of MTV's, and on Saturday Night Live.
In a statement, MTV said, "She is the third artist to receive the distinction of being named MTV's Best Artist of the Year with past honorees including Katy Perry (2012) and One Direction (2011)."
She was the subject of a documentary during the year for MTV. The pop singer also released several very popular music videos for hit songs "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball." Both of which topped Vevo's most-watched videos for the year, easily outperforming the others that were on the list.
"Wrecking Ball" was unsurprisingly on top of the most-watched list for Vevo as the music video brought in 19.3 million views in just the first day as well as over 371 million since.
