Penelope Cruz calls breastfeeding 'addictive,' says 'it's hard when the day comes when you have to stop'

By Gina DiFalco,

Penelope Cruz is enjoying motherhood so much that she even claims breastfeeding is “addictive.” Cruz told the January issue of Allure that she had a hard time stopping when her son was getting too old for it.

Cruz has two kids; Luna, 6 months and Leo, almost 3, with husband Javier Bardem. She stopped when Leo was over a year old and will do the same with Luna.

She told Allure, "I'm supposed to get extra calories because breast-feeding you burn, like, an extra 500 a day.”

She added, “I was breast-feeding my son 13 months, and I plan to do the same with my daughter. [Nursing] is addictive. It's hard when the day comes when you have to stop."

Cruz went on to say she always wanted a big family because of her background.

"I always knew I wanted a family because of the way I grew up. Family has always been the most important thing,” she said.

Us Weekly notes Cruz and Bardem, both Oscar winners, got married in 2010 in a private ceremony.
