President Obama is just like us when it comes to his television viewing habits, as he’s been revealed to be a huge fan of Breaking Bad and the Netflix original series House of Cards among many shows with a political basis.
The New York Times profiled Obama’s television preferences, which also include Homeland, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey. He has also called The Wire one of the “greatest shows of all time.”
Obama was overheard telling Netflix CEO Reed Hastings of Kevin Spacey’s character Frank Underwood on House of Cards, a criminal politician, “I wish things were that ruthlessly efficient. This guy’s getting a lot of stuff done.”
Sources told MTV News about some of President Obama’s picks for his favorite characters that he likes Jesse Pinkman of Breaking Bad because he can empathize with the tragedies in his life. However, his favorite from the show is DEA agent Hank Schrader because he is said to enjoy his "strong work-ethic and self-starter attitude.” He also likes Omar Little from The Wire.
Sources even say Obama is so into binge-watching Breaking Bad that he’s canceled meetings and appearances to do so.
