Ryan Seacrest talks Miley Cyrus’ performance ahead of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show

By Daniel S Levine,

While there are a number of specials marking the New Year on television tonight, Ryan Seacrest hopes that more viewers will watch his ABC show, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. After all, the American Idol host has one huge draw - Miley Cyrus.

In an interview with ABC News Radio, Seacrest said that he has seen the outfit the outrageous “Adore You” singer will wear during the show. “I think people should tune in to see what she's going to wear. It's a dichotomy of things,” Seacrest said. “You know it's going to be in the 20s, so you have to have something!"

View co-host Jenny McCarthy is hosting the show with seacrest and joked that she wished Cyrus would use the Times Square ball as a “Wrecking Ball.” “She still might do a big surprise on stage, but I don't think she'll go that far!” McCarthy joked.

Cyrus joined the show earlier this month, after she cancelled an appearance at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel in Miami. Billy Joel, Robin Thicke, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Blondie, Icona Pop, Jennifer Hudson and many more will be featured during the show, which will include performances from the East and West Coasts.

“For the first time ever, we're doing Times Square live and bouncing around to different cities too,” Seacrest said, adding that Joel is the performer he’s most excited for. “He's never done it. This is the first time. It's a real coup to have him!"

ABC starts its New Year’s Eve programming right at 8 p.m. with 30 Greatest Women in Music with McCarthy and Fergie hosting. Fergie is also hosting the events on the West Coast.
