'Sea of Fire,' 'How To Get Away With Murder' pilots ordered by ABC

By Kyle Johnson,

ABC has put in pilot orders for Sea of Fire and How To Get Away With Murder.

According to Deadline, which was first to report the news, both shows are serialized mystery-thrillers.

Sea of Fire is about three teenage girls who star in a pornographic movie, which then sets off a chain of events and results in destroying their families, murder and a disappearance. The pilot is based off of Dutch show Vuurzee, which was inspired by Twin Peaks. The show is from Sony Pictures TV.

How To Get Away With Murder follows a group of law students and their criminal defense professor who all become involved in a murder plot, which naturally effects their lives. The show is from ABC Studios and Shondaland. Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers are attached to executive produce.

Variety notes that both shows come from writer-producers from ABC's Scandal, Jenna Bans and Peter Nowalk, respectively.
