The first teaser trailer of Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Interstellar was released on Saturday, providing just a tiny glimpse of what is in store for viewers.
Not much actual footage is shown in the teaser, which isn't surprising since filming only began in August. The trailer features a narration by Matthew McConaughey, while clips of important technological events in history, such as the moon landing and early airplane flights, are shown, The Hollywood Reporter notes.
Speaking over the dramatic music, McConaughey says, "We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible." He continues, "And we count these moments, these moments when we dared to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown, known."
Plot details have been somewhat scarce, but the official synopsis mentions the movie takes place at a time where NASA has been effectively disbanded for years. When a rip in spacetime occurs, the people that are left from NASA have to figure out what it is and explore.
Accompanying McConaughey in this adventure are Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Anne Hathaway, Michal Caine and Bill Irwin.
Interstellar will be released in theaters Nov. 7, 2014.
