Paul Walker, an actor best known for his role in the Fast and Furious action franchise and Varsity Blues has died at the age of 40. Walker was involved in a car accident Saturday afternoon, just north of Los Angeles. He was in a Porsche when the driver lost control, slamming into a post.
His car immediately burst into flames. He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
According to TMZ, Walker was in Santa Clarita for a car show which organized with his charitable organization, Reach Out Worldwide, to support the Philippines typhoon relief effort.
CNN reports that speed was in fact a factor in the accident.
The crash took place around 3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET), close to where the charitable event was held.
