Top five musicals that should get live TV treatment

The Sound of Music returned to television this week with a live performance from Carrie Underwood as Maria. This was one of the first live musical productions on TV for some time and audiences tuned in by the millions.

For years, audiences have been packing the seats to see live performances of Broadway classics but now it would be possible for those classic shows to be featured on TV.

With the success of the The Sound of Music, the thought now turns to which Broadway show would make a great live TV event. From the cast of Rent singing "Seasons of Love," to two witches from Oz who defy gravity, these memorable Broadway moments could be introduced to new generations via the live TV medium.
