Warner Bros. has tentatively scheduled its Peter Pan origin movie for June 2015. The movie will be directed by Joe Wright and Javier Bardem is in talks to play the villain.
The film is currently titled Pan and is scheduled to open on June 26, 2015 in 3D, reports Deadline. Of course, the summer of 2015 is already packed with blockbusters like The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, The Fantastic Four and Terminator: Genesis.
If Pan does end up coming out on June 26 that year, it will be released the same day as Universal’s sequel to Seth MacFarlane’s Ted and the week after Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot. Jurassic World is also scheduled for release on June 12.
Wright, who is best known for costume dramas with Keira Knightley like last year’s Anna Karenina, was linked to the project in November. The script, written by Jason Fuchs, takes a look at the origins of J.M. Barrie’s classic character and what Neverland was like before he arrived. Bardem is reportedly in talks to star as the pirate Blackbeard. In the story, Peter Pan assembles a rebellion to end his rule of Neverland.
Warner Bros. has also moved the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending from July 25, 2014 to July 18, 2014. The trailer for the film was released this week.
