Law enforcement in India say they have arrested 15 men after the gang rape of a Danish national.
According to USA Today, a 51-year-old Danish tourist was gang-raped near a shopping area in New Delhi after she asked a group of men for directions, authorities said Wednesday.
“Police have identified the men involved in the crime and are conducting further investigation,” said special commissioner of the police Deepak Mishra, as reported by Bloomberg.
Violent sex crimes are not uncommon in the world’s most populated country.
Last month, a 20-year was allegedly gang raped while sight-seeing at a port city in Puducherry. The alleged attack occurred two days before India was due to mark the first anniversary of the death of a student who was gang raped on a bus.
The latest victim was also robbed and beaten in Tuesday’s assault, police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.
When the Danish woman finally made it to her hotel, the owner notified police.
