The band Clean Bandit has secured the No. 1 spot on the U.K single charts for the first time with their single "Rather Be." The band had the highest sales total for a January No. 1 single for the past 18 years.
"Rather Be" sold 163,000 in the week which ended on Saturday evening, Billboard added.
Clean Bandit first came onto the music scene last spring with their single "Mozart's House," which reached No. 17 on the charts.
In comparison to last week's number one from Grammy award winner, Pharrell Williams, "Rather Be" sold 45,000 more copies than "Happy" which took the number two spot on the charts, The Guardian reported.
The band expressed their almost disbelief over the top charting success. "I can't believe we're No 1," the group's Grace Chatto told the Official Charts Company, which tracks music sales in the U.K.
Ellie Goulding took the top spot on the album charts with her latest release, Halcyon. Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes fell to the second spot after Goulding reclaimed the top of the album charts.
