David O. Russell, the creative force behind American Hustle, is attached to an untitled television show for the small screen. The soap opera will be broadcast on ABC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC says that the new show will be an upstairs/downstairs soap focusing on a private country club. This would be Russell’s first drama series for the small screen. He is set to executive produce the show.

This has proven to be a great year for the writer/director. He is scheduled to receive the Outstanding Director Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, according to Variety. The tribute to Russell will be held on Jan. 31 at the Arlington Theatre during the international film festival in Santa Barbara.

In addition to American Hustle, Russell has directed Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees, and Three Kings.

After the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Russell could face more good times. He is nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Director for American Hustle. The Oscars would make a fine match with recent accolades from the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes.
