Eccentric former NBA star Dennis Rodman has checked into an alcohol rehabilitation center, coming on the heels of his North Korea trip.
According to the Associated Press, Rodman checked into an undisclosed rehab facility to deal with alcoholism.
The 52-year-old’s agent would not give any further details about the facility or his client’s treatment.
Rodman has displayed some bizarre behavior lately that included a trip to North Korea to participate in a basketball game, a birthday serenade to the country’s dictator and a public outburst on CNN where he made it sound like it was ridiculous to help imprisoned American Kenneth Bae.
The former NBA star had a successful basketball career with five NBA teams, most notably the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls. He is also a five-time NBA Champion and a two-time NBA All-Star, Basketball Reference.com notes.
The former athlete has battled alcoholism for years though and even appeared on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
Some have debated whether that appearance was to actually seek help or just to get his name out there again. But whatever the case, hopefully Rodman gets the help he needs to deal with his problem.
