Former NFL star Darren Sharper was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of rape.
According to the Associated Press, the defensive back, who played with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, was released on $200,000 bail on Friday.
The Los Angeles Police Department has said that Sharper is being investigated in connection with two separate sexual assaults, one which happened in October and one earlier this month.
In addition, the New Orleans Police Department said Saturday that they too are investigating the former player for an alleged September assault.
NBC Sports notes that Sharper’s current employer, NFL Network, has suspended the analyst.
“Darren has been suspended without pay until further notice, effective immediately,” a statement released by the network read. "Regarding the charges, as a matter of policy, we don’t comment on pending legal action.”
The 38-year-old spent 14 seasons in the league and was a five-time pro bowler. He retired from the game in 2010.
Sharper is due in court on Feb. 14.
