George Michael announces new album for March

By Chelsea Lewis ,

Singer George Michael has announced that he will be releasing new music in March. The album will be called Symphonica and will be released on March 17, 2014.

This will be the sixth studio album from Michael, according to The Associated Press.

Some details around the album have already been released; Symphonica will include new tracks from Michael and covers. The covers include Nina Simone's "My Baby Just Cares for Me." The album was produced by Michael and Phil Ramone, who died in March.

Michael was working on and recorded the album during a 2011-2012 tour. It was during that tour that he came down with life-threatening pneumonia, The Guardian reports.

The former Wham! singer is known now for making headlines instead of music but with this album it is clear that Michael is looking to refocus his career and regain fans.

He was imprisoned for eight weeks back in 2010 for possessing marijuana and driving under the influence of drugs, the singer crashed his car into a photo shop under the influence of the drugs.
