The new film, Grace of Monaco, will open Cannes Film Festival this year. The world premiere is scheduled for May 14, and the film will be an official selection at the festival.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grace of Monaco is a biopic about Grace Kelly, the legendary actress who later became a princess. The movie stars Nicole Kidman. Co-stars include Tim Roth, Milo Ventimiglia, Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Paz Vega and Derek Jacobi. Olivier Dahan directed the movie. The screenplay was written Arash Amel.
The movie takes place in the 1960s, and the story centers on Princess Grace being called upon to save Monaco from a crisis. The movie features a political dispute between Monaco's Prince Rainier III and France's Charles De Gaulle.
American fans expected to see the biopic sooner. According to Variety, the film was originally set to be released in the United States on March 14. Due to a controversy, the premiere date of the film’s release was postponed. Audiences will now have to wait until May when the film will open in south of France.
