Hulu announces new shows for 2014, including 'Real Housewives' parody

By Daniel S Levine,

Hulu announced its slate of original shows for 2014 and the return dates for its other original shows, like The Awesomes, Moone Boy and Quick Draw.

The streaming service’s head of development, Charlotte Koh, said that she’s “very excited about the year ahead,” as the company adds even more original and exclusive shows to its line-up. Hulu highlighted Deadbeat with Tyler Labine, who tries to help ghosts make it to the afterlife. Another show is the original Scandinavian The Bridge and the Real Housewives parody, Hotwives of Orlando.

Other returning shows include East Los High, Behind the Mask, Elite New Face and The Only Way Is Essex.

“Originals are a rapidly expanding part of Hulu’s busines,” Koh said, reports Slash Gear. “We’re excited to offer our users an exclusive variety of distinctive, smart, and entertaining shows in 2014 that showcase some of the best talent making television today, both in the U.S. and around the world.”

The company is hoping to build off of a stellar 2013, in which it became a $1 billion company. It also now has 5 million Hulu Plus subscribers and 30 million regular Hulu.com users.
