Jennifer Hudson, who first gained famed after appearing on American Idol, said that she will be headlining Carnival Cruise shows beginning in June.
According to the Associated Press, Hudson said before performing at a news conference in midtown Manhattan, "I used to work on a cruise ship, a long time ago. That's what I did before I did 'American Idol.'"
The talented vocalist will be performing on June 18 on Carnival Ecstasy and June 19 on Carnival Breeze. The singer isn’t the only one who will perform. Other performers and bands scheduled include Chicago, Daughtry, Foreigner, Gavin DeGraw, Jewel, Kansas, Lady Antebellum, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride, Olivia Newton-John, REO Speedwagon, STYX and Trace Adkins.
Hudson is used to to performing live, according to Billboard. She released her album, Jennifer Hudson, in 2008 and picked up the Grammy for Best R&B Album. She shared the Grammy nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media for Dreamgirls. She was also seen as an actress in the film, Sex and the City.
