Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar chances for 'Wolf of Wall Street' keep improving

By Chris Howcroft,

This could finally be the year that Leonardo DiCaprio brings home that elusive Academy Award. DiCaprio has been snubbed in years past and it is looking more and more likely that he can bring home an award this year.

DiCaprio is already nominated for Best Actor for his performance as Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street. According to The Huffington Post, he also received a nomination as a producer for the film Tuesday.

DiCaprio joins director Martin Scorsese with double nominations at the 86th Academy Awards. The Wolf of Wall Street gained very positive reviews from critics and is up for several awards, including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor (Jonah Hill), and Best Picture.

This year’s Oscar nomination for DiCaprio marks his fifth overall Oscar nomination. He has been nominated for Best Actor three times for his work in the films The Aviator, Blood Diamond, and now, The Wolf of Wall Street. He also has received one Best Supporting Actor nod in his younger days for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, notes E! Online.

DiCaprio is no stranger to the Oscars, but has yet to win. He has been involved with many films that are usually well-received by critics and many have been nominated for Academy Awards. DiCaprio's chances for winning an Oscar have improved greatly with the success of Wolf and this could finally be his year.
