The star-filled cast of a new off-Broadway production of Threepenny Opera was recently announced. It will feature a wide array of talent from Emmy and Tony award winning actors to idolized Broadway veterans like F. Murray Abraham, Michael Park and Laura Osnes.
According to Variety, The Atlantic Theater Company is set to open an eight-week long run with previews starting on March 12. The official opening is set for April 7. Performances will be staged at the Atlantic's main stage.
The cast will also include Broadway star Rick Holmes (Peter and The Starcatcher, Monty Python’s Spamalot) and Sally Murphy (August: Osage County).
Broadway.com reports that Osnes, who will soon be handing the reins of Cinderella to pop star Carly Rae Jepson, will be playing Polly Peachum. Park will take on the role of Macheath, Abraham as Mr. Peachum, and Murphy will be portraying the role of Jenny.
the production will have musical direction by Gary Fagin, sound design by Clive Goodwin, and an all-star cast. Threepenny Opera, based on The Beggar’s Opera, follows the story of Macheath in his criminal ways, relationship woes, and milestones throughout London.
