NBC orders drama pilot from ‘Deception’ creator

By Chelsea Lewis ,

NBC has ordered a new pilot from Deception creator, Liz Heldens. The upcoming project will be titled Salvation.

Variety reported that the show will tell the story of a Texas church where faith, family and problems are discovered and investigated in equal measure. The show will focus on Jennifer Strickland, a mother who has to fight for her family's right to her religious views when her husband passes away due to unknown, mysterious circumstances.

Heldens had two previous projects with NBC including Camp and Deception , which were cancelled earlier in the year, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

Salvation marked one of multiple script sales for new NBC employee David Janollari. Janollari is now a producer for NBC and is proving his skill set, bringing in successful projects. Janollari is currently on a three-year contract with NBC.

Universal TV is producing the pilot, with Heldens and David Janollari signed on as executive producers.

No casting has been announced and it is not yet clear if the show will be filming on location in the state of Texas.
